OUR STORY

The Silent Attacker—What We Didn’t Know About Hepatitis B 🏥🩹 My husband doesn't smoke. He doesn't even touch a bottle of alcohol. Yet, Hepatitis B almost took his life. Before 2025, I thought liver issues were only for people with "lifestyle" habits. I was wrong. Watching my husband suffer from acute pancreatitis, seeing his stomach and legs swell, and hearing the doctors suspect the worst was a massive wake-up call. We learned the hard way that Hepatitis B doesn't care how "healthy" you think you are. Our doctor made us understand something very important: It isn’t just about alcohol. Even certain herbal mixtures (agbo) and "natural" treatments can put a heavy strain on the liver or complicate things you don't even know are there. As a fashion designer, I’m used to "fixing" things with a needle and thread. But your health is one fabric you cannot easily "patch" once it’s torn. Here is the truth we learned in that hospital ward: Don’t Wait for "Yellow Eyes": If your eyes are already showing yellowish, the battle is already advanced. Act before the symptoms become loud. Testing is Vital: Hepatitis B is a silent attacker. You can feel "fine" while it is working under the surface. Knowledge is Power: It can be managed, but only if you catch it early and follow a medical plan—not just random herbs. I’m sharing this because I want your family to stay whole. My husband is still on medications and regular check-ups today. We don't take "feeling fine" for granted anymore. Go for a check-up. Encourage your partner to get tested. Let's protect our homes—not just with our prayers, but with our wisdom! ❤️🛡️ #HepatitisBAwareness #HealthIsWealth #LiverHealth #PancreatitisSurvivor #GetTested #WellnessJourney #NobleStory #MarriageStrength

Another Survivor Story

Three weeks ago, when my urine got very dark and my eyes changed, I honestly thought it was malaria again. I even went to Google, and it said it could be malaria or liver… and I quickly chose malaria . Everybody around me too was shouting, “Na chronic malaria!” Meanwhile, I didn’t even have money to run proper tests. I just kept treating malaria buying more drugs on top of the ones the hospital already gave me. I was even praying, “God abeg, make it no be liver problem o.” I was drinking agbo, still managing to eat junk because I had no appetite, and taking sweets so I wouldn’t vomit. My best friend that time? Fanta . In my head, I was battling malaria like a warrior. But instead of getting better, I was getting worse. The dark urine didn’t clear, my eyes got more yellow, my voice started going, and I didn’t even have strength to talk. The pain? Omo… I don’t wish it on anybody. At a point, I even thought I might die… but I still believed it was malaria or typhoid .because that’s what everybody around me kept saying. Nobody even mentioned liver. I was just taking anything I could lay my hands on, hoping something would work. Thank God I was able to collect my ajo (contribution) money. I had plans for that money, but at that point, my life was more important. I went straight to the hospital, and they told me to run plenty tests. Ah! Just like that, all my money finished. The only thing left with me that day was 5k. That was when I finally heard it...liver problem, and my enzymes were very high. I was like… “Eh? Me? How? When??” Then they told me the cause,,alcohol and medication reaction. I no go lie, I know say I guilty for that one, so I no even drag am. So now tell me why somebody is angry that I’m talking about my own health? Are you the one feeling the pain? Or did I offend you in another life? Saying I'm manipulating it and trying to sc@m people. Bruhz, your heart dark o. But hnestly, if I didn’t speak up, I wouldn’t have gotten the support, advice, and encouragement that have been helping me survive this. I might have been depressed or even in a worse condition by now. Sometimes, speaking up is not manipulation..it’s survival. This is just an awareness for this going through the same fate but are not educated enough to know what's wrong, I was once like them. Now, I know better. And please, make una take care of your health o. No just dey take drugs anyhow and mix things without proper check. This thing no be small joke o . As for those supporting me, praying for me, and standing by me I will never forget you. You people are the reason I’m still strong and hopeful today. #highlight #liver #followers
